A day in the life of ... Corinne Cooper

Back to news

"There’s no such thing as ‘an average day’ for me as it can vary so much from day to day, and my routine has changed significantly following the opening of our new office in Northallerton. It’s early days as we’re still settling in but I’m extremely excited to be leading a new project to expand the H&H Insurance Brokers brand across the North East and Yorkshire.

The job largely entails me dealing with clients on a daily basis, dealing with existing and new businesses and renewals of insurance. My role predominantly specialises in agriculture but I have a lot of experience in commercial and property insurance too.

The thing I love most about working for H&H is going out and meeting customers, whether that be at their farm, at the marts or agricultural shows. I’m a people person and I like different characters. I enjoy learning about people and becoming part of their extended circle. It’s important in the job that you know a lot about your clients so if something comes along that you think would suit them then you’re able to recommend it to them. It’s about building relationships and becoming their trusted advisor by showing how knowledgeable you are and providing honest advice.

Although I have many years’ experience working in the insurance sector, I haven’t come from a broking background but there is so much knowledge within the H&H team and I can always lean on them for help and support. I feel comfortable asking them questions because the team is so supportive of one another and I know they are always there if I need anything.

To unwind during a busy week I enjoy walking, generally taking in local routes to me but I especially like Roseberry Topping and the Cleveland Way. I find walking is good to clear the mind and get some fresh air in your lungs, and I think it’s underrated as an activity. My friend and I have started to walk together on a regular basis too and I’m enjoying the social aspect of it now.

I’ve done a few MacMillan Mighty Hikes as socialising and organising events, and raising money for charity, are other things I like doing. That’s come from being very involved in Young Farmers’ Clubs when I was younger, and I’m still involved now.

When I’m not doing any of the above, I help out on my dad’s farm which my brother and I both grew up on."
