Successful Christmas tractor parade to be ‘bigger and better’ in 2025

Back to news

In 2024, more than 2,000 people lined the streets to watch in excess of 50 festively decorated tractors travel down the high street for Northallerton’s Christmas tractor parade. It is anticipated that the event will be even larger when it returns to the town next month.

To ensure even more people can enjoy the parade, again supported by H&H Insurance Brokers, a number of changes will be introduced at this year’s event on Saturday, December 13. They include a circular route through the town, the introduction of safety barriers, more local stallholders and the extension of the event to four hours, from 5pm-9pm.

Northallerton Town Council is also lending its support and is covering the cost of Santa’s Grotto to allow children to visit Father Christmas for free, while Northallerton Mayor Andrew Hugill is expected to attend the event.

Mark Hall, chairman of North Yorkshire County Show which organises the tractor parade, said the committee had worked hard to make sure the 2025 event will return bigger and better than in its debut year.

He said: “The feedback from last year’s Northallerton Christmas Tractor Parade was absolutely amazing, and it’s fair to say that it was a huge success in its first year.

“The people of Northallerton told us they really loved the event and were so pleased it was held; as it helped bring people together and supported the local community.

“This year, we’re going even bigger so more people can enjoy the parade and we can’t wait to see the decorated tractors roll into town and put a smile on everybody’s face.”

He added: “We have to say a huge thank you to the community for showing such great support, our local farmers for taking the time to spruce up their vehicles so spectacularly and all our sponsors and supporters.”

H&H Insurance Brokers, which has an office on Northallerton’s Thornfield Business Park, is again the headline sponsor of the parade.

Corinne Cooper, who heads up the company’s operations across North Yorkshire and the North East, will be on hand to present the top prizes to the winning tractors.

She said: “The team at H&H Insurance Brokers is proud to be involved in such a fantastic community event which brings local people together and helps them get into the festive spirit collectively.”

The committee at the North Yorkshire County Show is planning to introduce further community events throughout the year and, to help with its goal, it is seeking new members.
