We are delighted to announce that we have strengthened our team in Wales with the appointment of a new account executive - Tomos Jones - who has joined as part of our continued expansion across Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire.
Tomos, who lives at Cymau, near Wrexham, will work alongside Associate Director Hâf Rowley, with account handler Lee Baines making up the third member of the team based in Wales and joins the firm from the NFU Mutual, where he worked across a range of products and services for several years.
Tomos, whose first language is Welsh, said his local knowledge and links with the farming community would be an asset in his new role with HHIB, which specialises in the agricultural sector. He said: “H&H Insurance Brokers is an exciting, forward-thinking company which offers great opportunities for me to develop my career. I was brought up in and among the farming community which gives me a good understanding of the day-to-day issues which farmers experience - and how important it is that they deal with someone they can trust and rely on to provide the best possible service in a straightforward and uncomplicated manner.
“Farmers have 101 jobs to do, and they need to know that they’re getting the best cover they can afford from a broker who knows and understands their business. H&H Insurance Brokers’ ethos of being a trusted advisor and providing a first-class personal service to their clients reflects that perfectly.”
H&H Insurance Brokers arranges a broad portfolio of insurance for farmers, agricultural contractors and all types of rural businesses. The firm also operates in the commercial, tourism and hospitality, and property sectors, and offers a number of specialist products.
Along with Hâf, Tomos will work out of HHIB’s bases at Ruthin Farmers’ Auction Mart and St Asaph Livestock Mart in North Wales.
Hâf, who leads the HHIB team operating in Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire, said: “We are delighted that Tomos has joined H&H Insurance Brokers to embark on the next stage of his career. He brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be an integral part of our expansion plans. Tomos’s appointment is a reflection of our commitment to the region, and to providing a high quality, professional service to our clients.
“Finding the right people is an essential part of our plans for the future and Tomos is a great addition to the team.”
Originally from Ruthin, Tomos’s farming roots date back to his grandfather who farmed at Tyn Llechwedd, Gwyddelwern. Tomos’ father, Ifor, is well-known in the farming community in North Wales as a key account manager for the global animal health company Zoetis. He previously ran his own agricultural supplies business in Cerrigydrudion. Tomos went to Brynhyfryd school, Ruthin and trained to be a plumber before switching careers and enrolling in a Business Management course at Aberystwyth University.
Outside of work, Tomos plays the piano and guitar and is a member of the band, VU, which is due to release its debut EP later this year. In 2018, along with bandmates in his former group Ceidwad Y Gân, he won the Cân i Gymru competition on S4C and went on to represent Wales in a Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland. He is also a keen walker and enjoys exploring routes on Moel Famau, Moel Fenlli and Hope Mountain.
As well as Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire, HHIB operates across the North of England and the Scottish Borders, and has its head office in Carlisle.
