The North Yorkshire show came back with a bang last year after the 2024 event was cancelled due to a lack of volunteers.
The community rallied around its local show and, with the long-term financial backing of main sponsor H&H Insurance Brokers, put on an event which attracted more than 10,000 people.
The success of its return has been rewarded as the NYCAS scooped a hat-trick of awards: the UK Enterprise Award for the Best Agricultural Tourism Experience of 2025; the Prestige Awards Yorkshire 2026/27 Agricultural Event of the Year; the Best Agricultural Event in the Northern Enterprise Awards 2025.
Show chairman Mark Hall said: “We’re still on a high after last year’s show and winning three awards in our first year back has blown us away. The feedback on the day was brilliant, and it’s nice to then be recognised by industry bodies in this way.
“We’re building on that success, and the committee has worked really hard to make NYCAS even bigger and better in 2026. The show is a great community effort, and I’m grateful to the committee members, the exhibitors and sponsors, especially H&H Insurance Brokers.
“The NYCAS began in 1840. We’re just its custodians. We’re keen to see that it continues for years to come, and we’re confident that it will.”
This year’s show will again be held at Otterington Hall, Northallerton, on Sunday, June 21, and will feature more than 100 stalls, with trade stands, craft stalls and food stalls selling local produce.
Other attractions include livestock judging, farrier demonstrations, vintage tractors and classic cars, a dog show, show jumping, and light and heavy horses.
The Light Horse section has been overhauled with the addition of the London International Qualifiers and the Horse of the Year Show Qualifiers expected to bring in high class competition.
Meanwhile, the cattle and sheep sections have expanded to cater for demand in exhibiting.
Attractions in the Main Ring include the Grand Parade of Champions and a parade of the Hurworth Hunt hounds.
Corinne Cooper is Associate Director for the North East and Yorkshire at H&H Insurance Brokers, which has an office in Northallerton. She said: “The success of last year’s event showed how important agricultural shows like these are to the local community.
“We’re pleased to have played a part in the North Yorkshire County Agricultural Show’s revival. We think it’s important for businesses to get involved with community initiatives.”
The NYCAS is looking for more volunteers to join the committee. Anyone interested should contact Mark Hall on 07799 762496.
