To mark the occasion, we spoke with Stuart about his journey so far, reflecting on the challenges he’s faced, the achievements he’s proud of, and his experience working with us. We’re delighted to share his story with you…
1. Your journey at HHIB?
I joined HHIB five years ago and have had the opportunity to grow and develop within the business over that time. I initially started as a Senior Account Handler before moving into the role of Claims Manager, heading up our fantastic claims team. Both positions were operational and client-focused and they gave me a strong understanding of our processes, client needs and the importance of accuracy in everything we do.
Over time, my role has evolved into the Quality Assurance Manager position I hold today, where I focus on reviewing, improving and supporting the wider team to maintain high standards across the business.
2. What does your current role involve?
No two days are ever quite the same, but my role typically involves reviewing policies and client files, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and identifying opportunities to improve how we work. I also support the team through guidance and training, collaborate with different departments and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce risk. It’s a balance of detail-focused work and big-picture thinking.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is the ability to make a real impact - both for our clients and internally for the team. Whether it’s improving a process, helping someone better understand compliance, or seeing a positive outcome from something we’ve implemented, it’s incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy the variety and the opportunity to continuously learn and develop.
4. What have been some of the biggest challenges or surprises along the way?
One of the biggest challenges has been adapting to the ever-changing regulatory landscape and ensuring we stay ahead of requirements. Moving into a Quality Assurance role also pushed me outside my comfort zone, particularly when it comes to challenging processes and having difficult conversations. That said, it’s been a valuable learning curve and has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
5. What achievement or moment are you most proud of in your five years at HHIB?
I’m most proud of contributing to the strengthening of our quality and compliance framework and helping to embed a culture where quality is seen as everyone’s responsibility. Seeing improvements in consistency, accuracy and overall service standards across the business has been especially rewarding.
6. What’s one thing you’ve learned during your time here that’s stuck with you?
That quality isn’t just about finding errors - it’s about supporting people, improving processes and creating better outcomes. It’s a continuous journey rather than a one-time fix.
7. Tell us something about you that we might not know!
At a school awards ceremony, I had a moment I’d quite happily erase from memory. Sitting there, half-listening and fully convinced I’d just heard my name, I confidently stood up, walked down the aisle and made my way onto the stage to collect what I assumed was my award.
It was only when I was standing there, smiling and ready to accept my moment of glory, that a very confused teacher asked why I’d come up…
Turns out, it wasn’t my name, it wasn’t my award and it definitely wasn’t my finest hour. Safe to say, the walk back to my seat felt significantly longer than the walk up. Absolutely mortifying!
8. Finally… how would you sum up your five years at HHIB in three words?
Progressive, rewarding and evolving.
Congratulations Stuart! We really enjoy working with you - here's to the next five years!!
