Typically our Armitage in-Livestock Smallholders’ insurance policy will cover:

  • Alpaca Mortality and Limited Theft Insurance
The insurance would cover the alpacas against death from accident, sickness or disease, or slaughtered on humane grounds, and limited theft.  This policy would include death of a female alpaca as a result of being pregnant.
  • Economic Slaughter/Loss of Use Insurance for Stud Males
Mortality insurance can be extended to include cover against a stud male being rendered permanently incapable of fulfilling their stud duties as a direct result of an accident, illness or disease sustained or contracted during the currency of the insurance. Please contact us for further details.
  • Worldwide Importations and Exportation Insurance
Insurance can be arranged to cover alpacas in transit worldwide. The insurance can include the six months residency in a third country. For example, alpacas being imported from Australia are required to reside for six months in either New Zealand or Canada.
Note: Transit insurance can be arranged from Great Britain to Europe including the ferry crossings and time after arrival in quarantine.
  • Public Liability – Available limit of Indemnity £1m, £2m or £5m
This type of insurance would indemnify the assured against their legal liability to pay damages (including claimants’ costs, fees and expenses) in the event of injury/sickness to a member of the public or damage to their property whilst on your property or away at shows and sales. This would include any injury/sickness or damage caused by your animals.

Note: A fully completed Proposal Form (sent by us to you) with a completed Camelid Veterinary Certificate Form will be required

An insurance broker acts as an intermediary between clients and insurance companies. Clients may be either individuals or commercial businesses and organisations. Brokers use their in-depth knowledge of risks and the insurance market to find and arrange suitable insurance policies. Insurance brokers, unlike tied agents, are independent and offer products from more than one insurer, to ensure that their clients get the best deal.  Insurance policies range from motor insurance, required by law to drive a vehicle in the UK, to public, employers’ or product liability insurance, which pays compensation on the basis of the assessment of legal liability for damage, injury or harm.
