Alpaca Show Updates

1st June 2018
Judges, Sponsors and Owners of the Huacaya Supreme Champion at the British Alpaca Show (BAS National 2018)

It’s been a busy start to the Alpaca show calendar this year for Jacinta Nastali, Armitage in-Livestock camelid insurance specialist, so we thought we’d share a few photographs of the champions so far.

The Alpaca show season commenced in earnest with the British Alpaca Show (BAS National 2018) which was held at the Telford International Centre at the end of March 18.  With world class judging, displays of both the winners of the fleece show and fibre zone displays, a large selection of trade and craft stands, it was an international event not to be missed.  This event showcased the best of British animals and fibre and is one of the most prestigious shows to both exhibit and be seen at.

The photographs show Jacinta, from Armitage in-Livestock presenting the Huacaya Supreme Champion Trophy to Nicola Mayes and Deborah Sporton owners of the Huacaya Supreme Champion “Houghton Jubilation”; the group of judges, sponsors and owners for the Supreme Champion class plus a photograph of the Supreme Champion Suri “Houghton Tailor Made” bred and exhibited by Mike and Liz George.

After recovering from BAS, it was soon time to attend the South of England Alpaca Show, held on 6th and 7th May at the Ardingly Showground in West Sussex.   Although this is traditionally the Spring Garden and Leisure Show it features the alpaca show organised by Spring Farm Alpacas.

Although Armitage in-Livestock were sponsors, Jacinta didn’t get to do any presenting this time!  The photos show the Huacaya Supreme Champion Snowmass Velvet Voyager owned by Kenneth and Elizabeth Freivokh being presented with the trophy by Mike George.  Mary-Jo Smith is also in the photo as she was the esteemed judge.   The final photograph is the Suri Supreme Champion owned by Mike and Liz George also showing the judge Mary-Jo Smith.
